I read about the Governors American Flag Initiative and state name should participate.
The Initiative invites all state governors to lead by example with a display of nonpartisan support for the American Flag. There is no politics in the American Flag, it represents all of us and nonpartisan leadership is structural to our democracy.
The goal is for all of America to see our 50 governors in an act of nonpartisan support for the American Flag in this time of polarization to celebrate our 250th anniversary.
The Governors American Flag Initiative is a simple, one-time call to action inviting all governors to accept a small flag into their office and making a quick blurb to the press and their social media as to why they are doing it. For example,
As governor of __________, I accept this flag into my office as a symbol of nonpartisan support for the American Flag and stand in solidarity with my fellow governors across the country who serve our flag and all it represents.
That’s it, they’re done. This initiative gives every governor the opportunity to participate in a nationwide campaign supporting the American Flag for all Americans to see during our 250th anniversary. There is no charge for the flags. It will only take about ten minutes of the governor’s time, and they won’t even have to leave the office.
If all our governors catch the spirit and put party and politics aside out of respect for the flag, this could be a historic rally of support for America’s symbol of justice and liberty for all, and state name should be part of it.
