Governors are powerful, independent political leaders and salt of the earth Americans who can show this country there is still unity in the United States during this time of extreme polarization. The goal is to have the 50 state governors stand in bipartisan support of our flag for all Americans to see as we enter our 250th year.

In1858, Abraham Lincoln gave his speech, A house divided against itself cannot stand. Three years later America was at Civil War proving him right. Some say history repeats itself. Look around. Have you ever seen this country so divided in your life. In 1970 the Kent State shooting were a shocking, unbelievable tragedy. Now events like that are just another day. America needs to stop picking sides and start picking solutions for a more United, United States, and governors are the ones to lead the way.

This flag is not art, it’s not a historical artifact or part of any state’s heritage. The Governors American Flag Initiative has no political affiliations or platform and is not seeking dues or new membership. It’s a one-time call to action, asking all governors across the country to accept this flag in a bipartisan display of solidarity, showing America that our 50 governors can stand united in support of the American Flag, giving us hope for unity and bipartisan leadership as we enter our 250th year.
